Invasion

There was screaming.     My eyes were focused on the ground in front of me, staring at the double yellow line my stance straddled, asphalt on either side. My eyes darted ahead, seeing flames engulfing a familiar skyline. Large towering buildings in the distance toppled, clouds of dust covering the city, the red and yellow lighting from the flames seeping through. To each of my sides was the same sight. Every building was reduced to rubble and covered in flames.      The screaming continued and my eyes shot over to their source. A woman, long blonde hair, sat on her knees cradling a body close to her chest, sobbing into it. She took a deep breath, her fingers digging into the body. Her head shot upwards and she let out a screeching yell, the sight of the body clearing as she did. The Trench - The First Found Page

"I've lost track of the days I've spent down here. I'm slowly starting to hear less and less noise from outside this room. It's been maybe two weeks since I was trapped in this room. I've managed to ration out my food and water for another week or two, but the water's becoming a problem. I have to conserve it, but I'm quickly getting dehydrated faster and faster every day. My brain felt three times its size… It felt like it was pressing against the inside of my head… like it was going to burst out. Words etched themselves into my mind… Words of an incomprehensible language… A language unknown to man… scratches on a blackboard…  I fell to my knees, panting, and feeling as if something was crawling up my stomach, trying to escape from the pits of my guts. My stomach contracted, but nothing came up. My body was trying to expel something it thought was there… trying to expel something’s presence. There was a footstep.  The sound of grass crushing under a footstep. It was on the other side of the wall. Its shadow crept through the holes in the wall, the thing looking out at nothing. I pushed myself off the ground, bracing myself lightly against ...
