Atop a Mountain
I stood against a brick wall, panting. My body felt heavy and I felt like just giving up… going to sleep… dying… There was a pounding against my head, slamming against the inside of my skull. My brain felt three times its size… It felt like it was pressing against the inside of my head… like it was going to burst out. Words etched themselves into my mind… Words of an incomprehensible language… A language unknown to man… scratches on a blackboard… I fell to my knees, panting, and feeling as if something was crawling up my stomach, trying to escape from the pits of my guts. My stomach contracted, but nothing came up. My body was trying to expel something it thought was there… trying to expel something’s presence. There was a footstep.
